Privacy policy.
How we collect, use, and protect the information you share with the studio. Written in plain language wherever the law allows — with the full technical detail where it doesn't.
Blueminum Blueprints is a small studio in Texas. We collect the minimum information required to fulfill your order, communicate with you, and run our business. We do not sell your personal information. The details below explain what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
- What we collect: your name, contact info, shipping address, order details, and how you use our site.
- Why: to draft, print, and ship the piece you ordered — and to occasionally tell you what's new.
- Who we share it with: only the fulfillment and platform partners we need to run the business.
- Your rights: you can ask us to show you your data, correct it, or delete it. Instructions at the bottom.
- Contact: for anything privacy-related, email studio@blueminum.com.
Information we collect
We collect information in three ways: what you give us directly, what we collect automatically as you use the site, and what we receive from third parties when they help us run the business.
Information you give us
When you place an order, sign up for the newsletter, apply to the dealer program, submit a vehicle request, or contact the studio, you give us the following:
- Contact information — name, email address, phone number when provided, mailing address for shipments.
- Order details — the pieces you've ordered, sizes, options, personalization notes, gift-message text.
- Payment information — payment method and billing address. Card numbers are processed directly by Shopify Payments and never stored on our servers. We only see the last four digits and card type.
- Dealer program information — dealership name, location, website, inventory type, sales volume, and role of the person submitting.
- Communications — anything you share by email, contact form, or through our vehicle-request submissions.
Information collected automatically
When you visit our site, our platform (Shopify) and analytics tools automatically collect:
- Device and browser — IP address, browser type and version, operating system, screen resolution.
- Usage data — pages visited, time on page, referring URL, clicks, and general navigation patterns.
- Cookies and similar technologies — see Section 04 for full detail.
Information from third parties
If you interact with us through a third-party service (a social login, a paid ad platform, or a shipping carrier's tracking page), we may receive information they share with us according to their own privacy policies. We do not receive detailed profiles or purchase histories from advertising networks.
How we use it
We use your information for specific business purposes tied to what you've asked us to do. We do not use it for anything unrelated without asking first.
- Fulfilling your order — drafting your piece, coordinating with our print partner, packaging, shipping, and delivering it.
- Communicating with you — order confirmations, shipping notifications, delivery updates, and responses to questions you send us.
- Providing customer support — replacements, refunds, damage claims, and general help.
- Sending marketing communications — only if you've opted in via the newsletter form. You can unsubscribe from any email we send.
- Running the dealer program — reviewing applications, processing credit-pack purchases, and coordinating dealer-sponsored client orders.
- Improving our site — understanding what pieces get the most attention, where visitors come from, and where the site gets confusing.
- Preventing fraud and abuse — flagging suspicious orders, chargeback prevention, and protecting our systems.
- Legal compliance — meeting our tax, accounting, and other legal obligations.
For customers in the European Union or United Kingdom, we process your personal data based on contract necessity (fulfilling orders you place), legitimate interest (running our business, preventing fraud, improving the site), consent (marketing communications), and legal obligation (tax and compliance records).
Sharing your information
We share your information only with the service providers who help us run the business, and only with what they need to do their jobs. We do not sell your personal information to anyone, and we do not share it with advertising networks for their own purposes.
Service providers we work with
| Partner | What they do | What they see |
|---|---|---|
| Shopify | E-commerce platform and payment processing | Everything needed to run the store and process orders |
| Print & fulfillment partners | Producing and shipping pieces | Your shipping address, order details, and personalization notes |
| Email service | Newsletter delivery and transactional email | Your email address and email engagement data |
| Analytics tools | Understanding site usage | Anonymized traffic patterns and browsing behavior |
| Payment processors | Processing card transactions | Payment details (we never see your full card number) |
Legal disclosures
We may share information when required by law — for example, in response to a subpoena, court order, or other lawful government request. We may also share information to investigate fraud, protect our rights, or protect the safety of the studio or others. When possible, we will notify you before responding to a legal request unless prohibited from doing so.
Business transfers
If Blueminum is ever acquired, merged, or reorganized, customer information may be transferred to the new business as part of that transaction. Any successor would be bound by this privacy policy or provide notice of any material changes.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your information with advertising brokers or data resellers. We do not target ads to you across other websites using your Blueminum activity as a signal beyond the standard Shopify pixels.
Cookies and tracking
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. We use them for basic site function, to understand how the site is used, and (with your consent) for marketing measurement.
Types of cookies we use
| Type | Purpose | Opt out? |
|---|---|---|
| Essential | Cart, checkout, login sessions — required for the site to function | No (site won't work) |
| Analytics | Understanding traffic patterns and improving the site | Yes, browser settings |
| Marketing | Measuring the performance of ads and social posts | Yes, browser or cookie banner |
| Preferences | Remembering settings like currency, language, saved filters | Yes, browser settings |
Managing cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings — most browsers let you block cookies, delete existing ones, or notify you before setting new ones. Blocking essential cookies may prevent parts of the site (like checkout) from working correctly.
Instructions for major browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge.
Storage and retention
Where your data lives
Your data is primarily stored on Shopify's servers in the United States and Canada. Our fulfillment, email, and analytics partners may store data on their own servers in the US, EU, or other regions. All partners we use are contractually required to protect your data at a standard equivalent to or better than our own.
How long we keep it
- Order records — retained for at least 7 years to meet tax and accounting requirements.
- Customer account information — retained until you request deletion or your account is inactive for 5+ years.
- Newsletter subscriptions — retained until you unsubscribe.
- Dealer applications — retained for the duration of the dealership relationship plus 3 years.
- Vehicle request submissions — retained anonymously indefinitely (used to inform catalog decisions).
- Communications with support — retained for 3 years after last contact.
- Website analytics — aggregated data retained indefinitely; individual visitor data retained per the analytics provider's policies (typically 14 months for Google Analytics).
Security
Our site runs on Shopify's platform, which is PCI-DSS compliant and uses industry-standard encryption for data in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. Access to customer data is limited to studio personnel who need it to fulfill their work. Despite reasonable security measures, no online system is completely immune from intrusion. If we ever experience a breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have specific rights regarding your personal information. Below are the rights we honor for everyone, regardless of location.
- Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction — request that we correct information you believe is inaccurate or out of date.
- Deletion — request that we delete your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements (e.g., we can't delete tax records within the 7-year retention window).
- Portability — request an export of your data in a machine-readable format.
- Marketing opt-out — unsubscribe from any email we send, at any time, without giving a reason.
- Withdraw consent — for any processing based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
- Non-discrimination — we will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.
How to exercise these rights
Email studio@blueminum.com with the request. We may need to verify your identity before responding — typically by asking you to confirm details from a recent order. We'll respond within 30 days.
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), California residents have additional rights, including the right to know what specific pieces of personal information we've collected, the right to request deletion, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we don't sell personal information, so this right doesn't currently apply — but you can still request confirmation). Contact the studio to exercise any of these rights.
International customers
Blueminum is based in Texas, United States. If you access our site or place an order from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US. By using our site, you consent to this transfer.
For EU and UK customers (GDPR)
If you're in the European Union or United Kingdom, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK GDPR:
- The right to object to processing based on legitimate interest.
- The right to restrict processing in certain circumstances.
- The right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
We use Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) with our service providers to ensure your data is protected when transferred internationally. To exercise any GDPR rights, email studio@blueminum.com.
Children's privacy
Blueminum's products and site are intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 years of age. If you're a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information to us, please email studio@blueminum.com and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our business, the services we use, or the applicable laws change. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we'll also notify newsletter subscribers by email and post a prominent notice on the site for at least 30 days.
Continued use of the site after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy. If you don't agree with a change, you can stop using the site and, if you'd like, request deletion of your account per Section 06.
